Mission & Vision

Mission: The mission of the Innovation Heights Academy School Counseling Program is to empower all students to engage in meaningful self-discovery, cultivate habits that promote life balance, and accelerate progress toward their individual academic, career, and personal goals. We do this through direct student services such as individual counseling, small groups, and lessons. In alignment with the school’s mission and the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) National Model, our comprehensive school counseling program also provides indirect services by advocating for equity, access, and success for every student. Through data-informed practices and collaborative partnerships with families, educators, and the community, we support students in becoming strong communicators, lifelong learners, and contributing members of society prepared to thrive in their next academic and life endeavors.

Vision: The Innovation Heights Academy School Counseling Program envisions a future where every student is empowered to thrive as a resilient, self-aware, and purpose-driven individual. Our students will engage in innovative learning experiences that foster real-world skills, academic excellence, and personal growth. They will graduate with a strong sense of life balance, equipped with the social, emotional, and physical wellness needed to navigate life’s challenges. Through meaningful comprehensive counseling and personalized support, our students will confidently pursue their goals and transition successfully into their next academic and career endeavors, becoming compassionate, curious, and contributing members of a global society.

How School Counselors Support Students and Families
School counselors are certified educators who partner with students, families, teachers, and community resources to support student success. Counseling services focus on three key areas:

Academic Development: Supporting goal setting, graduation planning, study skills, and academic achievement.
Career and Postsecondary Readiness: Helping students explore interests, strengths, careers, college options, training programs, and future pathways.
Social/Emotional Development: Teaching skills for self-awareness, healthy relationships, resilience, and emotional well-being.

Counselors advocate for every student and work to ensure all students have access to the support and opportunities they need to reach their full potential and graduate prepared for the future they choose.

I'm Anne Marie Littleton, the school social worker at Innovation Heights Academy. I am available to support students and families with access to resources and crisis support. Hablo espanol. I can provide community resource referrals for food, clothing, hygiene supplies, housing, utility bills, counseling, substance use treatment and crisis support. I can also brainstorm ideas with you to help overcome barriers to school success. If your family is struggling with housing instability, please learn about the supports available through our HPS McKinney Vento program and then contact me to see if you might qualify. If your student needs an ORCA card or assistance navigating the metro bus routes to school, let me know and I can help.
